Coach success story – Richard, Zambia

I have completed my studies in Hospitality management diploma. I thank God almighty that I managed to finish the course regardless of different situations and circumstances I’ve been through. I was raised by my grandma in Mandevu compound as an orphan, we are a family of 8 (grandma, grandpa, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and I). My grandma was doing a small business which helped us to survive, by then my grandpa was too old to work. By God’s grace I managed to go to school and completed grade 12 in 2015. After I completed my grade 12 I started working so that I can start helping my grandma to provide food at home.

In 2018 I joined Hockey Dreams Foundation. I was given the opportunity to continue my education and started Hospitality management in 2020 January. I had a challenge of transportation so I wrote to Hockey Dreams Foundation for a loan to buy a bicycle and they helped me. The course duration of Hospitality management was 3 years which is broken down into semesters (two semesters per year and every semester ends with exams). I managed to pass all the semester exams though for the 2nd year’s second semester I had to rewrite some courses. I completed the course in June 2023 and had my graduation ceremony on November 3rd.

I thank Hockey Dreams Foundation and all supporters for the great opportunity of my life, with this diploma my life has changed and I will continue to be a game changer in the lives of others too. Thank you so much! – Richard, Lusaka, Zambia
